We forget at times that our most common habits often constitute to a much dull and bad skin.
We focus too much on serums, face washes, moisturisers and whatnot, to increase the glow of our skin.
But, is it even right?
Keep reading to know more.
1. Too many products
Social media and rising trends of skincare manage to get us in the perfect loop of believing that whatever is shown in them is advantageous for our skin. We look at a product, see the reviews and buy it. Again, and again, and again and the cycle keeps on going?
But do you know the price we pay for it?
It’s an utter waste of our money as well as our skin. Face washes, toners, serums, moisturisers, eye creams, lip masks, night creams, and more. Our skin doesn’t even need this much products.
What to do then?
Invest in just a face wash and a good moisturiser. That’s it. And trust me, it works. You can buy a serum as an addition to your night skincare routine, which you may skip on some nights, allowing the skin to heal.
2. Over Exfoliations
Over-exfoliating your skin with harsh scrubs can disrupt your skin’s barrier and can give rise to acne and other skin conditions. The best DIY scrub is rice flour scrub.
- Take a tsp of rice flour.
- Add a tsp of cold raw milk.
- Apply it on your skin for 10 minutes and then scrub off gently.
Do this once every two weeks, and you won’t regret it.
3. Using too much face wash
We use chemical face washes too much. In the morning, after coming from work and then at night, and then repeat this routine every day. This needs to STOP. It is important to realize that these gels are just an addition to our skin health and washing your skin just with water works fine.
First, stop using face wash in the morning.
When you come from work, use a face wash. But if you are at home all day, wash your face with water only.
If you have already washed your face with any gel after coming back from work, wash your face with water at night.
And if your skin is sensitive, use a face wash only once every 2–3 days. The difference would be visible soon.
4. Not drinking enough water
This topic doesn’t need any introduction.
Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
Hydration is a key to plump and healthy skin.
Drink a minimum of 2 litres of water every day.
5. Stressing too much
Stress is directly proportional to acne. The more you stress, the more your skin worries and starts breaking out.
So to avoid that, practice deep breathing every day. 10 mins of deep breathing and meditation can balance out the stress levels and help your skin to heal. Breathing also increases the blood flow, giving a more glowing and youthful look.
